Negative Outlook

I have been working at MetroPCS full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

The values are in the right places.

Cons

The concept of low-cost provider is overdone. Employees are asked to accept shortcomings in tools in order to meet the bottom line, and at the same time, the customer is led to believe that they are getting the lowest cost service, which is often not the case. So where did the "savings" go?

Advice to Management

Accept the role as a valid fourth carrier. Dump the concept of two separate companies between T-Mobile and Metro PCS; Metro PCS employees should be considered legitimate workers (after all, they did build a fully operational network in NY/North NJ of 4300 sites in under 5 years, with far fewer employees than any of the competitors). The perspective from below is lost on upper management, who care more about trimming heads to make investors happy. That is the exact prescription for disaster over the long run!

I worked at MetroPCS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work environment was very laid back.

    Cons

SO many hidden fees the customer is never aware of until they call the check on their account. Every little thing adds money onto their account, ie adding a feature in the middle of the bill cycle is double the price. I've had so many customer yell at me for the "unfair" fees being added unbeknownst to them.

Amongst all of the changes with the merging with TMobile, it was very hard to keep track of new coverage and phones. It wasn't thoroughly explained what the changes were, but rather mentioned during coffeetalks every morning. We were expected to know detailed information when it was sprung up minutes before receiving calls.,

Overall, very frustrating experience working for MetroPCS.

    Advice to Management

Training must be much more thorough than looking at Powerpoints all day long for 3 weeks.
