I have been working at MicroStrategy full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

the people. the vision. gym, health plan. the company has a great set of products - the best in their respective industries. They also have an amazing set of people, many whom have been at MicroStrategy for 15+ years.

Cons

lack of investment in systems. lack of investment in people. lack of co-hesive strategy. 90% of the problems were created by the company. They get in their own way. No work-life balance. And there seem to be no values anymore.

I have been working at MicroStrategy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    * The company's biggest asset is its people. The ones that get their hands dirty with technical assignments (Software and Support) and the ones that work on the road. They are very nice and smart. And they have built an extensive and extremely efficient knowledge network.
    * Arguably, a good introduction bootcamp for new employees.
    * There's plenty of opportunities to learn new concepts and technology. Do expect to engage in a lot of self training, though.

    Cons

    * Too much time spent in unproductive administrative work.
    * No professional growth opportunities. Career plan is theoretical at its best.
    * No training on 3rd party technologies. However, be expected to become an expert on a particular 3rd party technology before engaging with a customer using that technology. You can imagine how this impacts your work/life balance.
    * Benefits, salaries and perks are below standards.
    * Arrogant, uncommunicative and excessively delegating management people and system.
    * Unrealistic, unproductive and mandatory professional goals set up by upper management.

    Advice to Management

Be open to communication and exchanging ideas. The people creating your technology and working outside in the field is the best you have got. Be nice to them. Create and communicate company standards. Encourage people to use and question them.
