I have been working at MicroStrategy full-time (More than 8 years)

Communication is very good
Varied everyday experiences
Exposures to a plethora of technologies, from Servers, to Databases, to Mobile Devices

Cons

Pay is not at the top end

Advice to Management

It's a great place to work, but tough to stay. There needs to be more incentives for more employees to stay.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

As it is still considered a small to medium sized company you are able to learn a lot by wearing a lot of different hats. The work and environment is very dynamic. Executive Management has begun to host quarterly online webcasts to communicate to the sales force. Great product and technology. Customers are satisfied.

    Cons

Doesn't support continued professional education. Additionally, it would help immensely to have more communication interdepartmentally. International communication could also improve. Not enough training. The company should match more on the 401K. Also the CEO has a lot of power to the point where it's micromanaging.

    Advice to Management

Management should take the time to speak more often to the employees and get more feedback. Processes and procedures should be simpler and more clear. Get SalesForce.com

"In the bubble, a great place to work!"

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

During the bubble years, MSTR was great at giving responsibility to young people and supporting them as they figured things out. Education and training were exceptions - a 6 week technical bootcamp - that I was allowed to take as a Marketing Manager! Morale during the bubble was also great.

    Cons

After the restatement and the techn bubble crash, senior management hunkered down and forgot to communicate with employees. The mission got muddled and to company lost its way for a while. Luckily, thoughout, there has been an extreme focus on ensuring the quality of the technology.

    Advice to Management

Offer more transparency to employees and the community at large. Take credit for great technology, but treat your customers with more respect.
