Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at MicroStrategy full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great People and culture. The people are what makes working here bearable. The location is also pretty good with one of the best buildings in Tyson's.

Cons

The compensation is pretty abysmal. Probably a good 10-30% below market.
The majority of compensation goes to the multimillion dollar salary of the executive level employees and their expenses. The executive team has their own chef and free beverages.

The growth in the company is stagnant. Loyal Microstrategists who have been here between 8-16 years have been leaving the company in droves.

The outlook for the company looks grim.

Advice to Management

Treat your employees better. If your compensation is poor, talented and productive employees are going to leave the company for better compensation and recognition. All you will be left with is mediocre employees that are willing to accept the "MicroSalary".

I worked at MicroStrategy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Amazing product
    - Looks great on a resume
    - Incredibly smart co-workers
    - Casual dress and culture
    - Pay is competitive

    Cons

    - Not clear on how to get promoted or move up the ladder in most departments.
    - Long hours at times.

    Advice to Management

Create career paths for non-tech employees. Promote those into management roles who really want to be managers, not just those who are good at their job (not everyone wants to manage).
