I worked at Microsoft as a contractor (More than 3 years)

Pros

People are nice and you have a chance to learn a lot on the job. Free beverages are a nice perk.

Cons

Hard to get hired as an FTE. Just when you think you've worked long enough as a contractor...nope.

    Engineering driven culture, good people, excellent benefits.

    Cons

    Need to get their hunger back and shake their complacency. They are trying hard now and time will tell if they are successful.

    Drive direct customer experience and hands on customer contact within engineering teams.

    Globally-distributed engineering teams mean lots of evening and weekend meetings

    Stop the unwritten policy of understaffing if you are serious about security, quality, and employee retention.
