I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great benefits (salary, insurance, perks)
Lots of seasoned developers and leads to work with and learn from

Cons

Microsoft is a machine. There are tons of people at the company, and it's sometimes hard to feel like you've made an individual impact. Career growth is possible but you have to align heavily with your manager. Don't get too attached to any of your products because all of the higher ups are good at playing the alignment game. They will turn on a dime and leave you wondering why you wrote all that code for the past 6 months.

Advice to Management

Nothing. What Microsoft does works for Microsoft. It's up to the individual to understand this process and choose if it's right for them.

I worked at Microsoft as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very flexible regarding work environment (lots of opportunity to work in a virtual environment), great opportunity to learn and apply new skills, global workforce.

    Cons

There are two class of workers. Blue Badges and Orange Badges. Many of the people who work at MS are orange badges, meaning they work similar to full time employees, but are actually vendors or internal contractors. This means you can work for years without benefits of being a true employee.

Also in the past few years other companies have made some of the technologies that are much better and more advanced then what is coming out of MS.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the contributions of the orange badges!
