Approves of CEO

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Tons of opportunities to work with some of the brightest minds. Great place to move between various functions depending on your appetite.

Cons

Company was not customer focused most of my tenure. It is slowly changing now which is great. Performance review system pitted employees against each other; however, that system is being canned this year. Will see what transpires as a result.

Advice to Management

Most senior management has been recently put in place with new CEO. Need to drive for customer success and scenario-based solutions.

I worked at Microsoft full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of smart, passionate people to work with
Ability to impact products that millions / billions of people use daily.
Great place to learn and use the latest technologies

    Cons

You need to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity
Some teams are very well run; others are very dysfunctional

    Advice to Management

Emphasize project management skills and training
Reevaluate the elimination of separate test teams. This may work for some groups, but in others it just leads to poorer quality.

I worked at Microsoft as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

You have exposure to the latest technical computer software. Variety of assignments.

    Cons

White male dominated company. No opportunities for other non-white. Old school boy attitude. They hire you only if they can use you to get an assignment. They really dont value your experience or skills. Only concerned about getting an assignment.
