    Pros

This list could go on and on... Millie and Severson has a Fantastic, family oriented culture. They really recognize each employee and maintain an environment where each employee is not only valued, but legitimately recognized for their contributions and efforts. Millie and Severson strives to maintain a culture of honesty, integrity and doing right by their subs, clients, employees, etc. They expect each... employee to operate and behave in this respect also. Millie and Severson is employee owned and has a good ESOP program, where employees begin to accrue stock after their first year of employment. There is ample opportunity for growth within the company, for those who perform well. Millie and Severson often, by virtue of their culture and operations, allows for a better work life balance for employees than most companies of it’s size. They try not to overwork or overwhelm their employees.

No company is perfect, but there is truly nothing that comes to mind as a legitimate con for Millie and Severson.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you’re doing in growing the company and fostering a culture which is both refreshing and appealing for professionals in the construction industry.

I have been working at Millie and Severson full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Back in 2013, things were looking grim for a senior civil engineering college student with no experience in the construction industry, but the President of Millie and Severson, Brian Cresap, had decided to give me the opportunity to work as an intern. I firmly believe that positions ought to be earned from the ground up, and that's exactly what we agreed on. Once I graduated, I was offered a position as a Project... Engineer. I was delighted. My experience with Millie and Severson has been wonderful. When I had worked as a Project Engineer, I was given a choice on where I wanted to work in the industry. My choices were estimating, project management, and field management. They believe a Project Engineer should work in all fields; however, they had granted my wish to work in field management under a Superintendent. It has been a great learning experience, and now I've moved on as an Assistant Superintendent. At the time it was an unorthodox request since typically a Project Engineer moves on as Project Manager, but once again, they gave me the opportunity. They had also assured me that working in project management or any other field is always welcome if ever I'm not happy. Millie and Severson cares about their employees and their happiness. Never once have I had to request a raise and then was unhappy with what I received. I've been given yearly bonuses. I have never felt overworked. Most importantly, I'm happy doing my work. They hire individuals to stay with them in the company. They want us to strive with them. I'm happy to be here.

    Cons

Millie and Severson projects don't consist of large projects as you would see from other General Contractors like Turner, McCarthy, Betchel, etc...

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to their employees.
