Good benefits such as health, dental, extremely high 401k match, commuter check, free food, 50% employee discounts on food at certain restaurants. A good place to learn new things. Certainly it is a good name on your resume.

High-stress, high-pressure working environment
High turn over rate
Internal promotion is rare

Advice to Management

Retain more good talents
Company policies were set not only for low level employees
More career development programs

Finding a sweet spot for micro management vs. macro management

I have been working at Mina Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Name recognition, fancy ingredients, nice new kitchen, not to physically demanding. Some really nice corporate chefs. Some positive reinforcement.

    Cons

Product waste, it's so sad throwing out lbs of rotten meat. And the fact that the managers aren't going through walk-in and even taking notice of all the expired product, a line cook goes through the walk ins and low boys pulling product every week that a manager puts away and forgets. Poor examples of managers, new cooks fresh from school are watching managers that don't follow health guide lines, lean& sit on counters, eat on the line, play on Facebook and a multitude of other kitchen no-no's. Treating the female cooks poorly, dismissing any complaints and expecting more from them. High turnover of management thus having no consistence, unclear rules and lack of respect for managers that are most likely not going to be around for long. Management needs training on HR relations because the are violations constantly and they don't even know they are doing it or what it is they are doing.

    Advice to Management

Structure. A definite training structure. Implementation of procedures. Promotion from within; the cooks that have been with the company for a long time that love working here, (stop bringing in chefs that don't fit our culture, they are just spot fillers, that hate the cooks).
