Pros

Chair of Department and Administrative always very helpful

Cons

Dean's expectation of Arts programs (# of students in class, etc) were the same as Science/Math, which can be like comparing apples and oranges.

I worked at MiraCosta College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work hours are not bad, and the job is not stressful. You usually work with a handful of coworkers with shared responsibility. Being a Java lab aide is good since you can do more than just help with general computer questions. Also, if you're a student, you can do homework when there isn't much to do.

    Cons

Work there is reinforcing of prior knowledge, but not too challenging.

    Pros

MiraCosta cares about their staff and students by employing students to offer a wealth of services such as free math tutoring and free food on Thursdays. My superiors were reliable, competent, and lenient.

    Cons

The students, to whom you will undoubtedly provide services, can be ungrateful and impatient largely depending on their age. The hours are often limited because of budget cuts.

    Advice to Management

Tell the teachers to not be so passive with the students. Make them earn their education. Too often the teachers surrender to the laziness of the majority by lowering the standard of knowledge in the classroom and it harms those who will transfer to a university.
