Pros

Very good on work-life balance. Allows occasional working from home and time off is easy to get. Provides occasional fun morale-building activities.

Cons

Slow to move to new technologies, and when they do, nobody ensures that current employees become more than passably proficient with the new technologies. There is no drive toward keeping employees current on trends in good software design, i.e. design patterns, code refactoring, and unit testing frameworks.

Advice to Management

Should create a technical steering committee (made up of developers) to propagate ideas of good software design and address technological deficiencies within the organization.

    Pros

The Technical and Business expertise of the Software Development Teams is excellent. The development teams will listen to your ideas and creativity. There is a tremendous amount of internal business knowledge within the organization. If you are lucky enough to work with one of the current software projects, you will be able to continue to learn new technologies.

    Cons

Remote management is unaware of many issues that impact the local employee base. Old architecture and technologies are still in use - your opportunity to grow - technically - may be limited - depending on the product you work on.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time/effort with local resources. Watch how they work - and listen to their ideas. The strength of the product lies in the stength of the team - not the strength of individual contributors.

I have been working at Misys full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people, great culture, and very competitive pay and perks. The Manila site is particularly world class, with lots of initiatives.

    Cons

Fast work environment which sometimes adversely affects work-life balance. Hopefully, the integration with D&H will soon be completed, so there's clarity on functional goals and expectations.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to employees' opinions.
