I worked at Mode Media full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful view of the San Francisco bay from the wellness room on the 10th floor.

    Cons

Glam Media is like an easter egg: colorful, attractive, but, in the end, just a hollow shell.

Glam is in the media and advertising business. As such, image is key. One of the few all-company meetings, for example, discussed for over 30 minutes the color scheme of the office, as it reflected the many brands that Glam owns.

Even when many talented successful people walk out the door, management seems serenely indifferent to the loss, focusing mostly on messaging that all is well.

The company is top heavy with Vice Presidents. If you look at their home page, you'll see over 15 VP's listed, in a company with just a few hundred employees. For the VP, having such a grand title provides a stroke to the ego.

Top management is supremely confident of their strategy and direction. Top management is insular, staffed by cronies and relatives, and does not listen constructively to criticism or suggestions from others outside the core circle. If you dare to differ, or even hint, you will likely not be successful.

    Advice to Management

    Trust and value your employees.

I have been working at Mode Media full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent working environment, people are REALLY brilliant and kind. Pretty good salary standards and fast growth. Willing to move and promote from within.

    Cons

Management is not very solid, middle management is larger than the entire work force so it is easy to have multiple bosses. Location of the office is terrible. Often you are not provided all the resources to work efficiently but expectations stay very high, the result can be unmotivated coworkers.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend spending more effort on lower level employees and less on frequent promotions to management.
