    Startup Environment that May not be for Everyone

    Pros

    • Startup environment with flexibility and ability to hear out ideas, access to CEO and leadership • Conveniently located in the city • Majority female coworkers and mothers

    Cons

    • Many wasted hours spent on unnecessary meetings and left without actionable deliverables • Unspoken expectation and pressure to work through lunch and after-hours (although this occasionally resulted in flex time) • Low pay that does not match industry standards • Decisions that are left to the last minute and cause an excessive amount of work for lower-level employees • Promises made by higher-level employees and management that were not kept • General disorganization and confusion, lack of communication • Tight workspace that caused employees to get sick on a regular basis • Reluctance of office employees to take sick days or PTO; employees would come in sick to work • Ideas that are created at the leadership level are then handed to junior/mid-level employees with zero regards for their existing workload
