I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Team based approach, good work-life balance, leader in the business, interesting science. Excellent benefits. You are always learning.

Cons

Things are always changing and not always for the better. You have to stay focused and this can be hard to do when management is constantly trying to "improve" sometimes withy clear direction.

Advice to Management

Roll up the sleeves and get to work!

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Insurance, vacation (if you can take it), 401k match, pension.

    Cons

Work/life balance. Summer hours exist only for St. Louis employees. High expections without the tools needed to get the job done without many OT hours. Frequent reorgs that are made without the employees or customers in mind. A very healthy propoganda machine for both internal and external customers.

    Advice to Management

People need to stay in their jobs long enough to understand them and how they impact the business as a whole. Employees in the field can't keep track of key contacts because positions change so frequently. Please encourage people to communicate outside their silo. Matrix organization allows employees to escape accountability -- exacerbated by frequent job hopping.

  2. "An incredible opportunity to improve production agriculture and fight hunger for the world's poorest people."

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A company of over 20,000 people where everyone has a voice and can understand how their job both helps farmers and improves agriculture in a cool way. GREAT coworkers, the opportunity to pursue career development, and very reasonable work/life balance.

    Cons

History will prove-out the significance and importance of the science that has been and is being conducted here. Unfortunately the affluent minority tends to vilify the work. It can wear on you.

    Advice to Management

Keep building the business from the bottom up. Keep rewarding those who do great work with both compensation and opportunity.
