Pros

Historically, employees at Morgan Stanley have been paid very well.

Cons

However, there is no guarantee that things will get better for the financial services industry and many of the legacy business models will not work in the future. Unfortunately, management has not given any indication that the firm is planning on adapting. There is high employee turnover, and as employees gain seniority they are at increasing risk of being laid off. There is terrible work-life balance, especially at the junior level, when employees are expected to be available 2/47. There is a lack of information sharing across the firm, and it is very difficult to change roles within the organization.

Advice to Management

Reward collaboration and give employees incentives to move around within the organization.

    Pros

Its an leading investment bank, with great pay and good benefits. There are a lot of tools and company sponsored ways that will help you develop professionally. For example, there are lots of classes that are offered for free to employees and there is a generous reimbursement program in case if you want to do an MBA or other advanced degrees in your spare time.

    Cons

Most people are very driven and they stay around 10 - 12 hours a day at work, so there is not a lot of balance between work and family life. The work place is very crowded and you get a very small working space. Living in New York City is pretty expensive.

    Advice to Management

    should focus on the individual
