I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Good training program that allows you to get licensed and trained to be a financial advisor. Co-workers are some of the best advisors in the industry.

Cons

Managements lack of understanding of the business. Focus is on top level producers and not trainees.

Advice to Management

Focus on the future of the business which are your trainees. Baby boomer FA's are nearing retirement, then what?

    Pros

Some really good talent still at the local level, comp is down the last 5+ years but still respectable.

    Cons

The firm has lost sight of its biggest asset in its customers and servicing them first. Adopting an old slogan of "we make our money the old fashion way, we earn it" would do a lot of good

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the field and their ask to service customer needs quickly and appropriately.

I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The reputation is good, there are a ton of resources to help you succeed, access to any kind of investment you could imagine, and the resources and expertise to handle any situation for large clients.

    Cons

Not much support if any in general, no access to assistants until your book is big enough, bad retirement plan support (although most advisers don't do them anyway), quick turnover.

    Advice to Management

Hire fewer people and invest more into them.
