I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

I came through the graduate training program, which for me was a big selling point. I received three months of solid training and it nicely prepared me for the kind of work I am doing now. Over the last few years I've found lots of opportunities to take on new responsibilities and become more involved in the business of a large IT division at a bank. The senior managers that I have interacted with have been of very high quality and they operate on an open-door policy.

Cons

Pay has gone down over the last few years but expectations have not. Working with global teams over long periods of time can be challenging.

I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. Good work environment.

    Cons

Lack of job security. Constant layoffs and consolidation. You are truly "headcount" here and nothing more...unless you're a broker with a book of business. Then you are treated like a king...everyone else are just peasants there to serve the kings.

    Advice to Management

Treat all your employees with respect. Layoffs are the easy way out. It doesn't take an Ivy League CEO to come up with a brilliant layoff plan to save money. A junior college dropout could come up with that strategy.

    Pros

If you are passionate about being an FA the MS team wants you to succeed

    Cons

Lots of layers of approvals very time consuming getting anything done or approved

    Advice to Management

Need to be more exclusive in who you let in the program
