I have been working at Morgan Stanley as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with. A little above average pay. Good managers and nice benefits and incentives, if you get hired on as a full-time employee. Not a terrible office job, and my managers were easy going for the most part. Work balance is really good because when I leave the office I don't even think about my job.

    Cons

Hired on as a temp to hire position. So there are people who have been there more than a year and still don't have benefits. Also there is always a sense to find another job because they may not renew your contract. Pay is alright, but still isn't anything to be proud of and isn't anything that you can really raise a family with. Also moving up is pretty non-existent. You can move around a lot. But most moves would be considered lateral movements and not vertical. So even if you move to another group or position, that doesn't mean you get paid more. When tax season is over I am guessing a lot of temps will be let go due to less need.

    Advice to Management

When I interviewed for the job I was told to expect to be hired on after 3 months. Unfortunately that isn't even close to the truth. Stop hiring temps and give your employees benefits. Also create more opportunities for vertical movement.
