I have been working at Morgan Stanley as an intern (More than a year)

Pros

Great work/life balance in the finance division, plenty of very smart people, lots of professional development opportunities

Cons

Lacks mobility opportunity, people are a bit "comfortable" (take long lunches, leave at 6 on the dot), pay could also be better

Advice to Management

Give employees a chance to move around more and explore what works for their career (and hopefully add value to the firm, albeit in another area potentially)...or they WILL leave.

I have been working at Morgan Stanley full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great IT department to work for, challenging work all around. I've been in the financial industry for over a decade and can tell from colleagues that this is a very strong environment to work in. Offices in Manhattan are very nice (with some getting recent upgrades!), and technology is kept as up-to-date as possible. Staff collaborates very well.

    Cons

Work/Life balance is tough, but if you enjoy doing the work and enjoy the people you work with, you can manage it.

  2. "Good learning experience."

I have been working at Morgan Stanley as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Worked with a great and friendly team. They were willing to help me learn the job and was able to contribute meaningfully, even as an intern.

    Cons

Stiff corporate culture and highly structured chain of command. A more linear structure and less political environment would be helpful.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to look outside of top schools for neglected talent.
