Pros

Great exposure to the myriad of Corporate bureaucracy, and red tape which makes a large corporation inefficient. Very well respected name, based on their past laurels, acquisitions, and antiquated brand.

Cons

The Corporation is so large, that in IT, it sometimes takes days to get the right people responsible for specific data areas. Ridiculous amount of processes and procedures which keep changing, in hopes that they may possibly be compliant with governmental regulation, and oversight. Very poor long-term employment prospects, as outsourcing, and onshore consulting companies is the current employment/labor model, as it is easy to release them when a routine corporate staffing re-alignment (lay-off) is scheduled. There were over 3 of these in phases in 2014 (I'm writing this mid-July 2014).

Advice to Management

Think Long-term, Grow slower, and ensure that the systems created are well-understood, and that there are competent staff to suppor tthem.

    Pros

Flexibility with work hours and time off. Great benefits and vacation time.

    Cons

Limited career path, not very much respect if you are not on the sales side of the firm. Rest of the company is secondary.

    Advice to Management

Open up more opportunities and create a better working environment for the employees.

I worked at Morgan Stanley full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Morgan was competitive at first. offering stellar benefits, generous time off, including the ability to work from home. promises of a career first track and the ability to be premoted and earn more.

    Cons

Morgan's culture can only be described as the gladiators arena, where you are expected to justify your existence constantly to ancillary managers and vps who have no clue about how a team functions or what is required of the job. technology is poor. don't even bother discussing your career track. there is no loyalty to managers or staff by higher ups. Majority of NE staff have been downsized and replaced by consultants from India or off shored in some other way. no bonuses, paper tiles and promotion. pay became very non competitive while you were always expected to twice as much with half the resources.

    Advice to Management

understand that your people are your most important asset. and focusing solely on the bottom line in an affront to the hard working staff is not a way to run a company.
