Pros

great place to work. company values their employees and promotes a great work / life balance. Pay is on the low end

Cons

Pay is low compared to other companies. Would like a clearer path to advancement opportunities and better training to support my skills.

    Pros

The corporate hierarchy is flat, so everyone has a say, yet few shoulder material responsibility for the quality or performance of the finished product.

The atmosphere is very relaxed, and the benefits are great. Nobody looks over your shoulder, and the company's employees are able to maintain a more-or-less carefree demeanor.

    Cons

To work here you must have no ambition to move up the ladder. By virtue of the flat corporate hierarchy, someone must quit or die for you to enter a position of higher responsibility and compensation.

Alternatively you may have a slim shot of moving up if the company decides to create a new business unit (which happens once every five years or so).

It is also worth noting that promotions are most often in title only and that compensation is the industry low.

    Advice to Management

This is not news to anyone working at the firm. The turnover is so high because the pay is so low...

    Pros

    - Great office & location
    - Smart & enthusiastic work force
    - Accessible higher management
    - Encouraged to be proactive and progress

    Cons

    - Pay is average, you can earn more elsewhere within financial services within similar roles
    - Can be a bit too laid back.
    - Non-organic growth in UK can make it difficult for progress (some due to the recession)

    Advice to Management

Be more structured with staff and career paths. Due to the wide and flat hierarchy coupled with fast growth, staff can simply use Morningstar as a stepping stone rather than a genuine place for long career prospects.
