I have been working at Morningstar full-time

Pros

Good benefits
Work life balance
Friendly coworkers
Great work environment

Cons

low base salary
no opportunities to be promoted
tedious job everyday

Advice to Management

Pay attention to high turn-over rate and improve rewarding strategy across the whole company. You have a bunch of smart and hard-working folks, but treating them equally like others will not help you keep people.

I worked at Morningstar as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Work/life balance is great, 9-5 is the best way to describe the culture. Office environment is extremely open, the execs sit in the same open cubicles as everyone else. Everyone is extremely nice.

    Cons

Office atmosphere almost too relaxing that it can sometimes be hard to stay on task.

    Advice to Management

Doing a good job, the employees like the relaxed atmosphere and it really shows.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

It is a good place to start a career. There are many opportunities to advance from entry-level worker to entry-level manager if you get a good manager

    Cons

It appears some of the growth engines are slowing down, especially away from data products. The consulting units are making some lumpy progress. Effective utilization of the large equity analyst staff remains a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Work on listening to the front-line workers who are trying to launch the various institutional efforts - the name Morningstar says retail, not institutional.
