Pros

Salary, flexible schedule. It might eventually pay off to be in on the ground floor, since the company will probably recover from the current slump.

Cons

Poor (and enormous) mid-level management. Horrible internal information-sharing and human resources systems.

Advice to Management

Throw out the dated processes and systems. Get the information and communication systems up-to-date. Begin using technology to help employees communicate and share information.

    Pros

Enterprise business (including two-way radio) is a consistent performer and a great place to learn new technologies as they are incorporated into our systems. Certain positions provide opportunity to travel. Various work options including flexible hours and telecommuting. Generous paid time off once you accumulate a few years.

    Cons

A mature organization getting bogged down in process controls. Six sigma quality focus leads to middle management doing things for the sake of metrics, not necessarily the right thing for the customer. Corporate level is slowly whittling away at benefits and increasing employee costs. Uncertainty about handset division's future has paralyzed parts of the company.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the customer and not the bean counting. Being asked to tighten our belts over and over again is very demoralizing, especially when it appears that senior management is not held to the same standards.
