I have been working at Munich American full-time

    Pros

There's potential for growth and opportunities for leadership if you seek it out (although current transitional changes in structure may somewhat limit this for the next few years).
There are lots of tools in place for network collaboration, including the potential to tap into expert resources. There are many training resources available, and strong support for studying and passing exams.
Very friendly atmosphere, good work-life balance. Close-knit student actuarial group.
The company has a good focus on giving back to the community. There are frequent opportunities for service projects, both on a team level and company level.
Also, I feel the experience gained in a reinsurance company provides unique and valuable perspective not necessarily found working for a direct insurance company.

    Cons

Depending on the department, on-boarding processes for getting new employees up to speed can be somewhat limited.
Many of the networking and training resources available are under-utilized.
Upper management decisions could be more transparent. There's a current organizational shift, and it seems that there was a decision made to choose a smaller amount work disruption instead of more clarity and transparency about the shift. To be fair, there was at least some attempt to provide answers to questions, though the attempt arguable fell short.

    Advice to Management

Be more frank and transparent about organizational changes. Don't try to gloss over the real-life immediate impact on individual employees by only addressing the strategic focus of the overall company structure.
