I have been working at NBCUniversal as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

In the page program there is great opportunity, but you must create those opportunities for yourself.

Cons

The company really does not assist the pages, once you're in the program you're really on your own.

Advice to Management

Take advantage of the recruitment of the page program. There are great candidates already working for NBCUniversal, make them feel more like they're a part of the program. This especially should be a shout out to HR.

    Pros

Great atmosphere, fun job, nice people, cool perks, chic location, ok salary, yearly merit salary raises, potential to get a really awesome position, great experience, great entry level positions to get a career started.

    Cons

Always laying off production staff, difficult to get promoted, management can sometimes be clueless is to what their suborindates do and can turn a blind eye to problems between employees.

    Advice to Management

Promote more employees, keep hiring from within, stop restructuring all the freaking time, keep employees longer

I have been working at NBCUniversal full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent hours, higher compensation than most media companies, lots of interesting and innovative projects to work on

    Cons

Very political environment, senior leaders prefer to let groups battle it out amongst themselves rather than settle turf wars. Difficult to get buy in for projects because of so many fiefdoms and unknown "ownership" of initiatives

    Advice to Management

Don't underestimate the power of communicating often with employees.
