You’ll work with genuinely superb technical colleagues within SOC management and threat hunting. The managers truly care about their people, balancing compassion with a strong focus on operational delivery. There are solid training opportunities, from vendor-led sessions on tooling and cybersecurity fundamentals to broader professional development through the UK apprenticeship scheme. The People team’s “Moments that Matter” initiative has introduced valuable policies for time away from work when it’s most needed. I’ve personally benefitted from the improved paternity leave offering. Shift workers are recognised with some perks on public holidays, which goes a long way in a 24/7 MSSP environment. On the technical front, the work keeps you sharp, responding to new and emerging threats. There’s fantastic collaboration across SOC, Threat Hunting, Threat Intelligence, Detection Engineering and Engineering, offering broad exposure to the different areas of industry. Internal progression is a clear focus, with many examples of people moving from junior roles into senior or management positions, both within SOC and across NCC Group more broadly.
Cons
It’s a fast paced environment with a wide ranging client base across almost every vertical, which naturally brings some pressure for speed and accuracy. That said, it offers excellent experience and career progression. The business is going through significant change, especially within SOC, as we expand our services and global operations, and we appreciate this can sometimes feel a little unsettling which is natural.
