I have been working at NCR full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great co-workers. Salary is satisfactory. Support from immediate management. Working to expand its market at all times, great PTO policies, that actual work I do... I like it

Cons

Bonus system based on opinions, 24/7/365 mentality- PTO is nice, but you're basically "owned" the rest of the days if they deem it "necessary". Benefits... not good. CEO more concerned with image than generating real growth for company (moved HQ after 125 yrs in Ohio because he is from NYC, and got a nice bonus in his pocket from GA)

Advice to Management

Stop looking at ways to cut costs to provide shareholders the illusion we are getting better. Improve hiring practices at the top levels and stop over paying them, better sync the bonus structure to actually reflect the work done, people not associated in any way with another job are missing bonuses because of them. Get rid of a leased building for headquarters and additional costs for high end property in NYC. NCR used to own property... own its name. It barely does now... it is all about looking successful over being successful.

I worked at NCR full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Learn about a lot about different technologies, machines, and retail store systems.

    Cons

The company expects you to be at their beck and call, 24/7, even when you are not on call. Lots of unpaid work also.

    Advice to Management

Hire more people. Restructure the CE position so that admin work, parts / logistics, and training can be done on company time. There are too many tasks that a CE has to do that can't be completed in the field, and therefore, has to be completed on their own time, unpaid. This is killing employee morale. Doing work on your own time, to get ahead with the company, or to make yourself a better employee, is one thing. When it HAS to be done just to maintain your numbers or appease your boss, this is wrong.
