Pros

Absorption and exposure to all the key challenges and changes occuring in the NHS

Cons

Lack of strong leadership meant a period of inertia was felt by staff. Internal communications were poor during this period but now improving.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at NHS Confederation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you're interested in Health policy development of working directly with NHS bodies but without actually working for the NHS, this is the place.
    Lively, young team
Loads going on- won't get bored.
    Amazing London office.

    Cons

    London weighting static for years
CEO changes every 2 years (or less)
Senior Team is embedded- progression impossible.
Processes often actively stop anything changing (like the actual NHS!)
Very silo-ed. Many teams literally don't talk.
Too many good people leave quickly- nothing gets done to keep them

    Advice to Management

Rather than doing PR, talk to staff.

I worked at NHS Confederation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly people on the whole, and as a not-for-profit was generally trying to do the right thing. Reasonable opportunities for progression.

    Cons

Internal communication and lack of accountability were not great. Some departments treated as second class citizens at times.
