Cons

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Good environment to work in, colleagues are wonderful people, very challenging work at times. Steep learning curve, especially in the initial phases.

    Cons

Complete lack of respect from management and senior staff, lots of unpaid and even worse, unacknowledged overtime. Often a lack of senior support at difficult times, disorganisation at every level.

    Advice to Management

Showing a degree of respect to clinical staff may go a long way in ameliorating the difficulties faced by the NHS.

I have been working at NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Try not to get tied down too much with the politics and 'red-tape' and it is a very rewarding career. The health service is very persistent in wanting to develop my knowledge and skills into areas I have a personal interest in.

    Cons

My department is very heavily micro-managed. There is no autonomy and this is very highly demotivating.

    Advice to Management

Place some trust in your staff - you will see the benefits and may also receive ideas on how to improve your services.
