Pros

You're actually improving government communications and interactions for citizens in your state!

Benefits - Unmatched group healthcare plan!

Diversity - Employees have a broad range of backgrounds and professional goals. It's truly a diverse work environment!

Progressive - Folks generally love to adopt or promote new technology and ideas.

Cons

We lack a strong, unified project management process and tool

Feel a little removed from the energy of the corporate office (this could be a pro, too)

Advice to Management

Continue caring for your employees and chasing innovation, and I'm convinced you'll prosper for another 25 years!

I have been working at NIC full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Benefits extremely good
pay is excellent but raise is poorly given
work vs life good base on what is on your plate to get done

    Cons

    Not a diversity company.
Take on too many projects at once when you don’t have the capacity to do so...
Once the pushing employees get to improve or move up the ladder... employees working and the work shows it, is still sitting on the step on the ladder...
Management does not take authority to get things done relying on employees to work it out but once that does go right you need to push and push that person. Not employee responsibility this is management to make sure.

    Lack of communication about projects
One business analyst to 6 project management
Non of the project managers are certified
Wants you to suggest improvements but nothing is done once suggested

    Advice to Management

Take responsibility on getting the team together. Don’t depend on your employees even the new employees (not use to that work environment)

I have been working at NIC full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good leadership in IT
Benefits are excellent (you don't have to pay for them)
Very flexible on working from home as needed
    Family-focused company
    Excellent Halloween company parties

    Cons

    Few opportunities for advancement
Average pay, but the benefits help with that
Lots of re-organization of teams on a regular basis
    Lack of communication

    Advice to Management

    Improve inter-departmental communication
Find a way to incentivize employees to stay; there are really no advancement opportunities, and the career ladders haven't helped with that
