I have been working at NIKE full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

work life balance
upward or lateral mobility
fun environment yet challenging

Cons

I work in IT and it is a service model for Nike. Nike is a shoe company and the money and respect are in that part of the biz...not IT

Advice to Management

Do you research and stick with decisions. Nike changes direction constantly

I worked at NIKE full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours, interesting work, fantastic fitness center, day care center. The company is concerned with work/life balance. Diverse areas to work in - footwear, equipment, or apparel. if you have a good idea - you can run with it. Mark Parker, the CEO, is visionary, and takes a real interest in the employees. Recently named the most Innovative company in America. They have been early adopters of manufacturing techniques and equipment that other companies are just starting to use, 15 years after NIKE did. There are opportunities to work overseas.

    Cons

Some people take advantage of the "flexible work hours" at times. As in any "large" company, there are layers of management that you have to go through to get things done. Generally though - a great company.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great innovation. Don't get bogged down in too many layers of leadership.

I worked at NIKE full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Involvement with some of the best products and marketing available globally for any product; fun; high energy; massive ability to reach consumers; highest levels of creativity.

    Cons

Unwieldy structure; long decision time-lines; political. The matrix is one of NIke's strengths, but it's also a bear to manage when you're inside.

    Advice to Management

Fix what's wrong with HR leadership ... and what's wrong is at the top.
