I have been working at NRECA full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Many people have been here for decades - literally "lifers". If you are in the frame of mind of retiring or just maintaining, this is the place for you. If you are interested in career, personal development or growth, you can start here, but you will quickly feel the need to move on before your first year ends and definitely before the second ends.

Cons

Many people have been here for decades -
Technology is outdated with the exception of your personal laptop, but systems and applications in general are lacking

I worked at NRECA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent professional development support (tons of tech, writing, speaking, etc. classes)
Great mission (cooperative business model and emphasis on community involvement)
    Good commuter benefits
Great environment for long-time employees and 55+ years (good if you're 55 or over, bad if not)
    Good pay and benefits

    Cons

WAY too partisan and stuck in the past - the constant refrain is anti-EPA and Clean Air Act instead of focusing efforts on developing innovative solutions to climate / energy problems.
Little to no efforts to retain young workers so high turnover in the under 35 crowd.
Not much interdepartmental cooperation or interaction, although this was beginning to change as I left in mid-2013.
Management often expects too much from employees; depending on department staff are very overworked.

    Advice to Management

There should be better interaction and collaboration between departments, rather than everyone working in a silo.
