Pros

well, NTT is a big telco, if i am not wrong, it should be the biggest telco in Asia. Their IP / MPLS coverage is very strong in Asia, and O. k coverage for the U S and Europe region. Able to get some exposure to big projects, on the design, deliverable, and maintenance.

Cons

The culture is very political and unfortunately a bureaucratic approach of working. There is red tapes everywhere. It is very hard to climb the corporate ladder or have the same empowerment. There are many processes involved just to get things done, of which it is really frustrating.

Advice to Management

Listen to the ground level more and be more open to feedbacks

I worked at NTT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well funded, long term focus and goals, research oriented, cutting edge technology, business relationships with many other NTT group companies, mostly very high quality products

    Cons

Reacts slowly to market changes, long term goals more important than short term success to an extreme degree, all decisions are made in Japan, career advancement is slow-paced, management are generalists not specialists.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what the market is telling you, do not enter into contracts in business areas you do not understand, honest evaluation of products is crucial, every employee is responsible for quality, don't be afraid to train employees, selling products is very different than conducting research - employee feedback and direction from management is more important and should be more frequent.

I have been working at NTT full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

All my peers are professional and works well with client. Enjoyed my assignment and work with client. HR and IT department used to be very helpful and nice.

    Cons

In order to compete with other firm, they promised client something that they never try to do. Broken their own promise no more than 5 months. Besides, they over charged client and keep consultant's pay very low. Client now is very disappointed with NTT and said will never trust them again.

The whole acquisition thing is a nightmare, all systems and functions are messed up. If you need help from someone they will transfer the issue from one department to another.

No transparency on everything, you wouldn't know what project are out there. And you wouldn't know how did the "secrect team" decide on your own benefit and career development.

CG used to be a very professional consulting firm, and it is a shame that all the good culture is gone with the acquisition.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees better, and appreciate their hard work. Treat your client with honesty. Credit first, Client first.
