    Pros

Great pay and you can’t beat working inside the exchange building. There are also some talented developers there.

    Cons

PTO isn’t great. Company lacks any cohesive web tech solutions. Dev ops, network engineering, etc are extremely careless at their jobs and often break things or fail to accomplish simple tasks like opening a firewall. The entire QA department is lacking; many do not have basic programming skills. QA is also disorganized and lacks any automation initiative. There is also a lot of shady back room talks and... favoritism that occurs within the dev managers and upper management and heavy favoritism towards the pillar dev ( matching engine) group.

    Advice to Management

QA needs to be part of the dev teams, not separate. Proper environments need to be provided for QA and Dev teams. They also need to be held accountable; I’ve spent 3 years sitting in the same meetings about automation and nothing was ever accomplished by them. The man currently acting as “CTO” should be replaced with someone who has actual experience with web apps. His shady tactics and favoritism will drive... out all your talent. A common approach to styling and architecture of web apps needs to be developed; similar to what Goldman did with Marquee. (Emphasis on that) This makes building apps quicker and allows for multiple teams to work on different apps. Environment deployments need to be streamlined. This is the only place I’ve worked where I have to sit on a call for an hour while others deploy and check out the app. In this day and age, there is no excuse for that.
