I worked at NYU (New York University) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The tuition benefits are easy to access, and the location (particularly at SCPS, where I worked) is great. If you want a low-cost graduate degree, you should consider toughing out a few years working here.

    Cons

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies is very profit-driven, so if you're looking for a typical education environment, it isn't the place for you. But, management doesn't work from business strategy or show any acumen. They just want to get things done and see if it generated positive P&L. In addition, many managers and directors are underqualified. One didn't know the difference between production, editorial, and design functions, so she assigned work based on who she liked that week, rather than by job or skill set. (If she liked you, you got the week off to do freelance projects in the office.) And finally, this may have just been my division, but abusive managers were common. The HR team was aware, but generally told you to deal with it on your own.

    Advice to Management

Empower HR to protect employees, since your management is incapable.
