I have been working at NYU (New York University) full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Benefits, academic setting with a plethora of learning opportunities, collegial atmosphere, inclusive HR policies. An incredible cohort of students who are capable of making a difference wherever their journeys take them.

Cons

Bureaucracy, clash between new thinking and entrenched interests, legacy employees who have thrown in the towel but continue to occupy pivotal positions.

Advice to Management

Think like your students. There are so many talented, motivated, and enthusiastic employees who believe in the importance of education and the administrations role in creating it for the students and the community. Give them the keys.

I have been working at NYU (New York University) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I was an adjunct writing professor for international graduate students at NYU. The pay is a few dollars more an hour than that of other NYC universities.

    Cons

Classes took place in a crowded midtown building. The atmosphere was rushed, anonymous and cold. They expected a lot of work that was unpaid -- meetings, conferences, and obviously, prep and correcting papers. (Though to be fair, this is true of all adjuncts everywhere). However the administration was very demanding and abrupt. Not worth it.

    Advice to Management

    Quit exploiting the teachers.

I have been working at NYU (New York University) part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent colleagues, superb students, great staff.

    Cons

Salary is too low for the position.

    Advice to Management

Reasses the number of hours a production supervisor takes from review to project approval. The importance of the work coupled with the amount of hours dedicated (plus the going professional rate) is not inline with the small salary offered.
