Pros

NACAC had a very talented, dedicated and hard-working staff.

Cons

There was a level of secrecy throughout management operations. While there, for a little over a year, 5 people were fired and at least 8 people resigned. That is approximately 25% of the work force leaving in a year. This speaks to poor managmemet of the association. People who were fired disappeared over night. Others who left were denied promotions. It was a very unhealthy work environment.

Advice to Management

The senior level management was entrenched and presented themselves as an exclusive club. The CEO did not even know the name of the woman siting outside her office in the cube. She was referred to as "whatsherface." Show more respect for your employees. Listen to their ideas. Reward them when they do good work.

I have been working at National Association for College Admission Counseling full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a previous reviewer wrote, the association's mission is something everyone can get behind.
Compressed summer schedule with every other Friday off.

    Cons

Leadership is stagnant and stuck in the past. There is no vision. Employees lack experience in the field which also hinders progress and full understanding of work.

    Advice to Management

Take the blinders off and stop pretending everything is ok

    Pros

Good benefits, friendly people, and a mission that everyone can get behind

    Cons

Few internal promotions, senior management have been there for too long and could use an infusion of new ideas from a new generation of leaders

    Advice to Management

Consistency is great, but keeping the same people at the top for too long leads newer people with great ideas to look elsewhere for growth opportunities.
