I have been working at National Geographic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

When people learn that you work at National Geographic it's almost embarrassing how positive their reaction is, they all have a memory of the Society. Working there you get to interact with explorers doing amazing work in the field. My department has a great work/life balance.

    Cons

Like all publishing National Geographic is struggling to adapt. Lots of layoffs and moral with people that have been there for a long time is supper low.

I have been working at National Geographic as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great work life balance and mission. There is a great sense of comradery between employees who are working at the National Geographic Society.

    Cons

The various departments within the company are quite siloed so it is hard to see how your work fits in with other department's work.
