I worked at National HME full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Helping families be together when someone is passing. Nice Co workers on the lower levels.

    Cons

It forces you to neglect your own family like they do not exist. They throw you away if you get hurt and bypass dot regulations 70-80 hot week can easily happen. 12-16 hours days are the norm and they dock break time even though you do not get a chance to take one.

    Advice to Management

Take better care of your techs without them you will not get a paycheck your self. Treat them like humans and acknowledge they have families as well.

I have been working at National HME full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It beats being homeless. Benefits. Paid time off. There is some satisfaction in knowing you are helping people, but it's diminished by the fact you can't help but be aware the company doing it so thinly veils their real purpose, money.

    Cons

You will hear a lot about this "Grandparents standard" but NHME's real slogan is "Shut up and do it."

The company sales reps make ridiculous promises that are completely infeasible, and contradictory to your job description. Fear not though because the burden will soon be set on your shoulders, regardless of if its 2am or not.

The job requires a high level of commitment and knowledge, but wants to pay you close to nothing. You will be told it's an "Honor to help these people in their time of need" I guess it's just not quite honorable enough to be compensated for...

Be prepared to give up any and all life that you once had, because regardless of what you've been told, you are at this company's beck and call until THEY say your done...and then some. Doesn't matter how dumb the task is, you're going to do it. Not uncommon to drive two hours one way to plug something in, or flip a switch.

The company constantly runs out of the most basic supply's, I would compare it to Taco Bell running out of tacos. This results in irate nurses and patients which you in turn have to cater to and deal with.

There is so much more but if you arn't detoured by this point you're probably not going to be. Good luck.

    Advice to Management

Nothing, not even the government is left with out some sort of checks and balances system. Perhaps if you would make some sort of effort in regulating the nurses/hospices/facility's ridiculous, lazy, lethargic, Idiotic demands your employees would stick around. If not that, at least pay the employees for the stupidity that you seem so eager to let go on, both internally and externally.
