    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook

I worked at National Park Service part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work in places that are rich in history and/or environment. Visitors interested. Very satisfying to work with the visitors. Most visitors appreciate of attention they receive from Park Rangers.

    Cons

Hours, low pay and poor management. Park Rangers in interpretation who do tours and educational programs are the front line for the park service. Over 50% are seasonal with no benefits. There is little appreciation for the loyalty and dedication of these employees from management.

    Advice to Management

Show support for your front line employees who are the ones who are making the visitor experience a wonderful one and keeps people supporting our National Parks. Do not make your seasonal employees feel disposable.
