Positive Outlook

I worked at National Park Service full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Not only do you get to work in a beautiful place with people who share the same values as you, but you get to do something that you are passionate about everyday.

Cons

A "pickle suit", uniform, is not a particularly wonderful item of clothing to wear, but a fair price to pay for a great job

Advice to Management

Protect our Wilderness designated areas diligently.

    Pros

You get to work in some of the most beautiful and treasured places in the world. Some sites are hidden gems. Employees are dedicated to protecting the countries treasures.

    Cons

Being a federal agency it is at the mercy of Congress. Because of this most jobs are temporary, seasonal, part-time and/or subject to furlough. Low pay.

I worked at National Park Service as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Getting to work outside every day, company you can trust, uniform makes you extremely popular! Looks fantastic on a resume.

    Cons

No opportunity for advancement. Seasonal positions are easy to get, but veterans get preference for permanent positions. This means that there is little to no opportunity to actually get a permanent position. Seasonal employees do not get benefits.
