Pros

Great company vision, company is goal-oriented, open communication about goals and priorities, good benefits, great opportunity for learning and advancement, enjoy working with my peers and enjoy the work I perform.

Cons

Most dept heads lack real leadership, many support depts are unresponsive, unorganized, and sometimes blatantly incompentent. HR does not seem to be very involved throughout the company. There is significant lacking of organizational, planning, and computer-use skills at the corporate office.

Advice to Management

The corporate office should be "support" - put metrics in place to gauge that. Based on the company's vision and mission statements, staff should rate their leaders and peers should rate each other. It is unfair to hold staff accountable for behaviors and their leadership when there are very few examples of great behavior and great leadership. Most of the company's other leadership does not seem to be in-line with Reade's messages and how he interacts within his company.

    Pros

great place to learn the ropes of the optical industry. Good benefits and discounts given to employees. Medical dental and vision to full time employees.

    Cons

would like to see a more involved training program. No benefits for part time employees. appears to take some time for career advancement within.

    Advice to Management

Would like to see a more involved training program for new hires. Classes or take home study materials would be helpful.

I have been working at National Vision part-time

    Pros

Good people, hourly plus commission, learn a lot on the job

    Cons

Commission not substantial or competitive, no commercial marketing so workers have to market the company on their own which is limiting and not as great for sales
