I worked at Nationwide full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunities for new upper level hires to make a difference early. Clear strategy from the top. Lots of good people across the organization. Many chances to move around through different disciplines, especially if you are willing to play the game the "Nationwide Way".

    Cons

Must be willing to adopt the "Nationwide way" after the first couple of years or opportunities will thin out along with advancements. Don't make long-timers look bad by accomplishing too much too quickly once you're past the 24 months mark. If you really want to succeed, must be willing to play the game based on the rules as written even though you know things could be better - and without too much effort.

    Advice to Management

Your company is good but it could be great if you attacked the rampant lack of personal accountability present in your middle and upper management.

I worked at Nationwide full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

401 k match, benefits, community involvement, holiday pay 2.5 time

    Cons

Not much of a chance to move up unless you're willing to move
Closures in producing offices to move to another city
Though agent pay is great, once you promote it's not as competitive
