I worked at Nationwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Noble cause and deep commitment to support insureds.
Attainable work-life balance if you can manage workload
Columbus metro and surrounding suburbs offers a nice place to live and commute
Improving diversity and inclusion of people from all walks of life
    Generous relocation package

    Cons

Limited responsibility for individuals in mid-management ranks.
Insecure executives restrict up and coming talent from realizing their potential
Obvious management decisions like retiring an old underwriting platform takes too long
Education reimbursement is useless and underfunded
Talent management isn't very strong. Get the sense that you've been forgotten
Talk to anyone who left Nationwide and they will articulate their thoughts with a sigh of relief glad to have escaped the overly political environment that prevents the company from moving forward.

    Advice to Management

Make the changes that you know needs to be made. The leaders and people at Nationwide are smart, grounded and supportive yet so afraid to take chances and admit to their mistakes. Consistently pay bonuses to employees who work hard and perform.
