I worked at Neiman Marcus full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Neiman Marcus has a diverse group of management that are there to assist their employee's through work and personal matters. They give employees the oppotunity to grow and expand within the company and to take on challenging roles.

Cons

There is a lot of employee performance reviews which I found to be biased and unrealistic of an employees actual performance. The company lacks a sense of togetherness amongst the various departments in the store.

Advice to Management

Try to connect the departments instead of dividing them by commission and pay rates.

    Pros

    Discount, luxury retail environment, great vendors, great product

    Cons

    Poor management, HR does not address problems as they arise, buyers can treat assistant buyers however they want as long as their business is upward moving. Little room for growth/movement. Extremely high turnover rate and loss of talent to other retail companies.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to surveys and employee feedback and actually do something about the issues instead of ignoring them. $10 starbucks cards are not enough recognition to keep people around when they can get a 50% salary increase to go to JCP and be treated well by management and empowered to excel in their position.
