I worked at Nestlé full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a fantastic opportunity to be exposed to some of the less technical yet nonetheless valuable aspects of engineering: change management, Lean methodologies, improving workflows, etc. You do also get exposed to technical aspects if you have the initiative to take on and request projects.

    Cons

Management and leadership could be a bit lacking at times, sometimes resulting in "low periods" where there was not much work to do. It was here when initiative was required.

    Advice to Management

Improve the structure of the internship a bit by having an idea of a better mix of non- and technical projects that an intern could get involved in.

I worked at Nestlé full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Is a great multinational, that provides many growth opportunities. You learn how to manage complexity, large scale businesses, diversity in an everchanging evironment.

    Cons

The higher you get in the organization the more political, your growth within the company does not depend on your experience and capabilities, but in the networking and support you get from the top. The management style (which I hope changes) is focused on results instead of people (at least in the market where I worked), the philosophy of the company is admirable... if they only walked the talk.

    Advice to Management

Saying "people is the most important asset of the company" should not be just a philosophy, management needs to act on that and have employees feel that it is true. They need to walk the talk, and follow up the markets closely to see what it going on. I feel Nestle Leadership needs to change, there are many "bosses" but very few leaders.
