I have been working at NetApp full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The NetApp culture has brought some A players to the scene.

Cons

Middle managers are too technical and less capable of managing people. We keep losing these same great people to the competitors because of this lack of good management.

Advice to Management

Move technical people into technical leadership roles and get them out of leading divisions of people. Those leaders need to achieve excellence in building teams.

    I worked at NetApp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    One of the best culture's around. Great products, great people.
    The people at NetApp (including myself) have a passion for the product. When I was selling NetApp, I knew that if the customer bought my solution, they were making the right decision and would be happy with their purchase

    Cons

    Recently, the forward momentum and innovation has slowed down, causing some backsliding in the market. It's taken way too long to bring new products to market, and what has come out has suffered in QA and manufacturing.

    There needs to be a renewed focus on innovation.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to the field. Also, there are a lot of divisions at NetApp, and it seems that much of what is being done isn't being communicated well; there's a feeling that the left hand doesn't always know what the right hand is doing.
