    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Great company with great earning potential and bonuses for hard workers.
Great technology and great minds - a wonderful learning experience.
    Very supportive of continued training.
A certain amount of flexibility and allowances for working from home.

    Cons

The outsourcing of IT in 2009 was handled badly from the perspective of those who lost their jobs, as well as those who remained. Executive management identified those who would be laid off without input from middle management, who had no say in who from their staff would be laid off. Some only found out the day before or day of the layoffs in 2009. The number of reorgs in IT says it all, and there are some Sr Managers and Directors who should never be allowed to talk to human beings.

The number of IT senior/mid-level staff who have left NetApp over the course of the past couple of years to move to other Silicon Valley companies says it all.

    Advice to Management

A lean IT budget is one thing but when are you going to look at the number of reorgs in IT and the real reasons why? Could it be IT executive management's strategy is a bit faulty?

"Great salary and benefits in a passive-agressive culture"

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Overall good benefits and intelligent people to work with. Executive team is top-notch and extremely focused - which is great for bonuses, stock and long term growth.

    Cons

Middle management from VPs down is very passive-aggressive creating a fearful, caustic environment.
Major disappointment when the execs are candid and open.
Great company, great potential. Yet it has become just a another company to work for insted of a Great Place to Work. Too bad, what a waste.

    Advice to Management

The Big Opportunity has motivated employees with a great sense of urgency, yet it has also smothered the candid and creative energies of workers with fear. VPs and Managers are encouraged to get rid of anyone they don't like under the guise of cutting the low performers or just take an easy route by eliminating the position in a restructure - not the work of course, which just gets redistributed to others.
Change is good - motivating hard workers is better than threatening them and cutting individuals one at a time - all while billboards are posted that the company is hiring.
