Pros

Great people, great management, excellent benefits, products that are unique and therefore easy to sell. Company is growing, and a testament to the customer value of the products is that NetApp grew during the recent economic downturn.

Cons

Understaffed in some areas results in overworked staff in those areas.
Top focus areas get all the attention and funding, resulting in disenchantment elsewhere.

Advice to Management

Need to do a better job of recognizing and funding those areas that are critical but are not in the top focus areas.

    Pros

Good technology if you are in core data storage areas
    Good pay & benefits

    Cons

We can create a linked list of management chain with the link property set as personal acquaintence. Talent is irrelevent in selecting people in high positions - favoritism rules. Managers form opinion not based on rsults of work but on the opinion of their favorite "lead". Very bad for energetic neutral engineers who are not "aligned" to management drinking cool-aid.

There are quite a few good managers around and if you are lucky to be with them, your life is good. Having few product lines, job rotation is not an option and best way to advance your career path is to leave for a better job.

    Advice to Management

Mid management and some architects with questionable talent in a lot of groups will pull down the company. When favoritism & politics rule, bad talents accumulate and let the good talent leave.

    Pros

Company benefits, 401 match, Employee stock purchase plan, fun activities like "Beer Bash Fridays", cookouts, and other team building activities. Tons of training. Friendly Management.
Relaxed dress code, and the list goes on. Competitive pay.

    Cons

When it comes to the Management, sometimes the right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing. Some of the higher-ups make silly decisions that will make them look good to their Bosses, not realizing how it's going to effect the ones actually doing the work.

If you don't like or can't handle a stressful environment, this isn't the job for you.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to your team and actually voice the issues to your Boss instead of letting it stop with you.
