    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Netspend full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Current developer at Netspend. Have been here for 5 years and love the team. Management is very supportive and gives me all the support they can. Pretty laid-back environment and really smart people.
Excellent mission that helps people that can't get a bank account. CEO is really cool and is very ethical.

    Cons

Some red-tape to deal with given it's a financial company. The IT operations and information security teams can be hard to work with and make it hard to go as fast as we'd like.

    Advice to Management

    Devops!

    I worked at Netspend full-time

    Pros

Nice downtown office with parking. Free sodas. Community events. Work from home day.

    Cons

Developer roles are slowly moving overseas to India and many workers are getting replaced with H1b workers.

The prepaid products are ranked last by comsumer reports and have unfavorable reviews online by consumers.

Company was fined 50 million for their deceptive marketing practices.

Customers are simply viewed as a profit center that must be maximized and do not care or want consumer protections on their products (google "cfpb prepaid protections")

If you read these glassdoor reviews and you will not find one employee stating that they are helping or benefiting the under banked consumer segment. The positive reviews here sound like shills.

And the worst part is the stack ranking and anonymous 360 reviews they use to evaluate employees. These have been proven to be ineffective and are completely non productive. Your peers will anonymously answer questions such as "would you hire this person again?" and you will be told the answer. And you will also need to be good at arguing over your year end
review as much of what you are rated on is cherry picked at the discretion of your manager.

In short, take the job if you got nothing better, but dont jump ship to this place. The grass isnt greener here.
